We announced our list of Sitecore MVPs for 2010 today. It’s amazing how much has changed in the CMS industry since we launched the program. But, while so much has changed, the Sitecore developer community remains strong and as passionate as ever with 10,000 active members worldwide.
With the MVP Award, we thank those individuals that represent the voice of thousands in the technical community. These developers provide valuable input to their peers and help our customers maximize the potential of their CMS software. But MVPs are not just about evangelizing Sitecore. They are passionate about improving technology and driving innovation and don’t hesitate to share their knowledge and real-world experiences at user groups, on blogs and online forums.
So, people may ask ‘what’s in it for me?’ MVPs get access to technical resources such as alpha versions of Sitecore software, first release modules and full access to the Sitecore Developer Network and download section and invitations to major events.
Actually, I don’t often get that question in fact it’s quite the opposite. For example, at last year’s Dreamcore I spoke with several MVPs and many noted how valuable the developer community has been for their own career development. Many times, MVPs are the ones who answer tough questions and suggest new ways to look at a situation. This is the most rewarding aspect of the program – seeing the MVPs in action. It’s not just about a certificate or press release – it’s about collaboration and supporting the entire technical community. Hope to see you on next year’s list.

Lars co-founded Sitecore in 2001 as a natural outgrowth of his company’s transformation from consultancy work to original software development.
