Connecting The SEO Dots

Once upon a time, Search Engine Optimization was something you could handle as a organization by managing your site well, and by creating great content. As a Web Content Management (WCM) vendor, I used to advise customers on how to maxize your search engine marketing efforts through a series of on-page best practices, to ensure you placed well in search engine results pages (SERPs) and maintained that position over time. We've even held webinars on the subject, like our Increasing your website's pull webinar. Over the years though, on-site and on-page SEO efforts gave way to increase relevance for inbound linking, and other off-site and off-page factors. The quandry of course, is how to enable our customers to be able to marry their on-page and on-site SEO efforts, with their off-page and off-site efforts.  Well, I believe we've now got the answer...

As a part of my role as SVP of Product Marketing, I'm responsible for working with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and other technology partnerships that can bring added value to our customers. One such technology partner I met not too long ago is a firm called Jungle Torch. One of the things that hit me right away was that with some integration work, we could really bring together both the on-page and off-page SEO worlds, and simplify a search engine marketers life tremendously. You see, most marketers that do SEO work live in a combination of spreadsheet hell, and multiple browser windows, scraping info from a dozen places, and managing things across a variety of spreadsheets.

After seeing Jungle Torch in action, I knew we had to integrate with it, and offer this sort of integration to simplify our customers lives. The idea is very simple really. Allow a marketer to operate inside of Sitecore, view the variety of reports about SEO performance and off-page analysis from Jungle Torch, and be able to link directly from the Jungle Torch interface right into the management interfaces of Sitecore to make on-page adjustments to further optimize SEO performance. A little single signon integration to smooth out the usability, and voilà, an integrated on-page and off-page solution that gives a search engine marketer a unified environment for their daily work.

This sort of simplicity is precisely what we're trying to do here at Sitecore. By removing complexity, and simplifying the tasks modern marketers are faced with every day, it's Sitecore's goal to continously offer more value to our customers, either through enhanced features and capabilities like the new Digital Marketing System, or through partnerships like Jungle Torch. Stay tuned for more to come, as we have several more exciting partnerships in the works as well.

  • This sounds great Darren. Another piece to the digital marketing puzzle provided by Sitecore. I'm excited and very curious to see it in action so that we have the knowledge and context to offer this value to our clients. If there are any screenshots or demo of this solution, I would love to see it.

  • Intriguing. Signed up for the free seo report from Jungle Torch but sounds like it may be a while before I can see it. Any chance, I can request for the same screenshots?

  • Darren I agree that continuing to create great organic content and ensuring that one does not break inbound links are essential components in doing SEO well.

Tools that measure you against your competition will also help guide you to where you need to spend your efforts.

If tools to see what folks are saying about a site socially (Radian6), then one can improve their corporate image on the web. This is not specially SEO, but more about corporate image tracking/improvement.

    Thanks for posting!
