Mærsk Data enter a partnership with Sitecore

Sitecore has the best bid for the content management system of the future. This is the evaluation of Mærsk Data Organisator which develops IT solution for organisations. This is why the company has entered a partnership with Sitecore and incorporated their product into the concept “Member portal”, where the first part will be launched soon.

“Many companies have established their web solution at a time where the need was really only for a business card on the web. This task is well handled by many content management systems. But if you start to get interested in a more interactive, business utilisation of the internet, e.g. offering self service on the net and thus save on the expenses for administration, the problems start to appear - technical problems and expensive integration to the other IT systems,” says Michael Rask, Chief Developer at Mærsk Data Organisator.

New concept: Member Portal

This is the reason why Mærsk Data Organisator decided to look at websites in a new way. Instead of considering content management solutions, integration and the addition of new facilities as individual and independent activities, you establish a more overall and conceptual angle to the website. This is the form and concept of “Member Portal”, which will be a package, you may use as a whole or partly, when wishing to establish or extend your website or portal. The concept consists of a number of facilities which may be added to the portal depending on needs – without these becoming independent integration projects. The content management system plays an important role in the solution. 

“The content management system is an important factor in any web solution. It needs to keep track of the content of the portal, and in the most recent edition it also needs to ensure that data may securely and easily travel between web applications and the underlying solutions. Finally it needs to be easy for the web editors to handle, so unnecessary time is not spent on training and the daily work with the website,” says Michael Rask. 

According to him, Sitecore fulfils all these requirements in a most satisfying way, which is the background for the partnership.
