Sitecore Expansion on the Dutch Market
Monday, february 14, 2005
The Content Management company Sitecore has, through a local partner, implemented a platform for The Province of Noord Brabant that brings coherence and quality across content on their new website. Simultaneously the company has opened a local sales office in Amsterdam.
Since 2003 the CMS provider Sitecore has opened offices in strategic countries around the world and the Netherlands is the next step. The company’s latest customer on the new market is one of Netherlands’ largest provinces, Noord Brabant. For the Province Sitecore CMS was coherent with their .NET strategy for primary web systems. With over 100 authors and 16 content coordinators, the Sitecore workflow process was critical to the allocation of tasks to expert groups, ensuring that the right persons review and approve content – thus ensuring the quality of the new website.
Sitecore’s track record of successful CMS solutions to public organisations such as Copenhagen County and North Vancouver Schools District was a key factor in bringing the Dutch province into the portfolio. This success was also the catalyst for the establishment of the sales and support office in Amsterdam.
“We are excited to be officially entering the Netherlands. We have had an amazing response from both partners and customers during the last twelve months and the new local representation confirms our commitment to the country. Our success with the public sector globally has given a significant momentum and we believe that Noord Brabant is just the first of many successes for our partners in the Netherlands”, said Michael Seifert, CEO, Sitecore.
The establishment of the organisation in the Netherlands is one of a series of international activities that include the successful launch of the USA and German offices. Sitecore continues its global partner strategy and has already entered partnerships with a number of local system integrators and web agencies. Amongst those are LECTRIC and Mirabeau, two of the Netherlands top five agencies, both of whom were already receiving enquiries for the Sitecore system from their customers.
”We experienced that our customers were demanding the Sitecore solution for their websites as this is one of the few CMS that is 100% based on the .NET framework, and that is increasingly attractive to Dutch companies”, said Jan Hein Schouten, CEO, LECTRIC.
Strategic position
Sitecore offers a competitively priced, mid-market CMS solution based 100% on the .NET framework and the browser based client runs in all major languages including Dutch. This gives the company a unique position in the region that has given the partners a flying start; their customer pipelines already boast companies such as Sanoma Uitgevers, Autotron and Beekse Bergen, part of the Dutch Libéma Group. The Netherlands are also a strategically important area for Sitecore as it offers a springboard to neighbouring Belgium and Luxemburg.
Sitecore plans further expansion within Europe before the end of 2005, as part of the five year internationalisation strategy. Already more than 50% of Sitecore’s income is generated outside the Danish home-market, and this share is expected increase considerably in 2006.
