We provide a lifetime of services to help those who serve through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) lead healthy lives and achieve financial security. As an ELCA churchwide unit, we provide retirement, health and related benefits and services for 50,000 pastors, rostered laypersons and lay employees and their families, and nearly 11,000 congregations and other ELCA sponsoring organizations. The Board of Pensions is based in Minneapolis.
A board of 19 trustees governs our administration of more than $6 billion in assets. Our president, John G. Kapanke, guides our mission, vision and values with the help of nearly 200 employees who devote their professional skills and expertise to provide a benefits program that is faithful to the well-being of those who serve through the ELCA.
