Best Transport/Travel Site: Copenhagen Metro System
Implementation Partner: Creuna
The Copenhagen Metro system is currently planning the expansion of the metro system. The new section – called Cityringen – will influence more people than any other single construction project in Denmark. The construction period will last from 2010 to 2018 and at some construction sites the front door of some flats in the street will be blocked for at least 72 months. At the same time a higher level of noise, dust, and heavy traffic must be anticipated throughout the city. This has – of course – made a lot of citizens in Copenhagen frustrated. The frustrations and the hardly available information have lead to lag of confidence in the entire project and developer – Metroselskabet – in parts of the City.
Working with Sitecore partner, Creuna, The Copenhagen Metro System has integrated the Sitecore CMS into, www.m.dk, which has become the cornerstone for communicating updates on the construction project – specifically a new section of the site, www.m.dk/cityringen. Content is now personalized for each of the geographical locations in the site (using tags within Sitecore), which has enabled citizens to get more complete, accurate, and relevant information. Google Maps has also been integrated throughout the site.
According to Erik Mortensen, responsible for customer medias at Metroselskabet, “The other day someone called me through the central switchboard just to ’say thank you for the new website on behalf of the entire Copenhagen’. Crazy stuff comparing to the normal angry phone calls.”
Best Public Site: Danish Ministry of Education
Implementation Partner: 1508
The Danish Ministry of Education has been selected by Sitecore as the Danish nominee for Sitecore Site of the Year in the category Best Public Site.
The Ministry of Education was established in 1848 and is one of Denmark's longest functioning ministries. Today, the Ministry of Education employs more than 550 people and the assignments include everything from being of service to the minister to the development of the content, goals and quality of education.
The Danish Ministry of Education's site is an integral part of the Ministry's profile and the primary face externally. It is an important external platform for the policies of the Ministry, serving users in the field of education and attracting future employees.
This year the focus will be on accessibility and user involvement.
The website relaunched in the fall of 2008, which prompted changes in terms of design, functionality and content.
Best Portal and Search Site: EDB Priser
Implementation Partner: Alpha Solutions A/S
EDB Priser is a complex price comparison site for IT equipment. The site was running outdated technology, and EDB Priser wanted to build a better search-driven solution with an improved development architecture -- by incorporating a modern platform into the solution. Another goal was to build a new generic platform for price comparison site - starting by replacing the existing four online brands (edbpriser.dk, hifipriser.dk, dvdpriser.dk and spilpriser.dk). The CMS had to be able to support numerous comparison sites with complex and differentiated products, and it also had to be able to support a highly scalable advanced search application.
Working with Sitecore partner, Alpha Solutions A/S, EDB Priser chose Sitecore as their CMS platform. The flexibility of Sitecore will enable EDB Priser to build a new price comparison portal in days rather than months. Finally, EDB Priser has been able to integrate a number of other technologies seamlessly and transparently within their site.

Best Non-Profit Site: Scleroseforeningen
Implementation Partners: Creuna for design and Spring Company for implementation
Scleroseforeningen is a non-profit organization that serves to inform the general public about Sclerosis and post news and content related to the disease. One of the challenges they faced with their old site was making it accessible to people with special needs, such as those with Sclerosis who were visiting the site. For example, they need to be sure the site has no moving objects, no text on colored background, and is generally accessible to all of their visitors. They also needed to accommodate the needs of the large number of non-technical volunteers who drive the organization.
Working with Sitecore partner, Creuna for design, and Spring Company for implementation, Scleroseforeningen implemented Sitecore on the site. As a result, they have built an extremely accessible site to accommodate the special needs of its visitors, including a read-aloud function as well as different colored backgrounds and headings that users can choose from based on their preferences. For volunteers who manage the content, Sitecore’s easy-to-use interface has allowed them to edit and write content with ease.
