Keynote Presentation: Gartner

Mick MacComascaigh Research VP and lead analyst for Web content management for Gartner will be one of the Keynote Speakers at Dreamcore Australia 2011.

In a true showcase of how the Web has changed today's business environment, Mick will present Tuning Your Online Channel to WII FM (What's In It For Me) live from Munich, Germany.

Here's a short summary of the presentation:

Web content management (WCM) has undergone significant change over the past 4 years. An attempt to understand the resultant shift has seen the introduction of new terms, such as 'Web Experience Management' (WEM). However, WEM does not go far enough. Today, a successful online strategy is one where organisations first consider the business outcomes they wish to achieve and second, the associated business requirements necessary to measure and realise those outcomes.

What’s In It For Me (WII FM) should therefore be the credo of both IT and business personnel alike as they exact a higher return from their WCM investments. In doing so, they will see that an online strategy that is significantly more successful where 1) the client is king, not the content and 2) optimising the desired effect of the online channel becomes paramount. Gartner will introduce “Online Channel Optimisation” in this context and answer the following critical questions:

  1. What key market trends are changing the landscape of Web content management?
  2. What are current drivers and success criteria for the best online strategies?
  3. What best practices can you apply to ensure you maximise the success of your online strategy?

Site of the Year Winner!! Personalised Intranets - How CSIRO's Intranet is Transforming Internal Communication

By Peter Saunders, Web Manager, CSIRO Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics and Diana Reale, Web Manager, CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, CSIRO

CSIRO, Australia's national science agency and one of the largest and most diverse research agencies in the world, has 6,500 staff in multiple business units spread across Australia. Until recently, getting correct and timely internal information to staff to help them successfully complete their jobs was managed by 28 separate intranets. Problematic on a number of fronts, CSIRO set out to find a solution that would provide a one-stop shop including presenting information to staff based on their role, location and business unit, and with the ability to expand their profile and subscribe to additional content. After an extensive requirements gathering and selection process CSIRO chose Sitecore to develop its new intranet. The site, called MyCSIRO, went live in May 2011, and is under further development to extend its functionality and increase its interactive capability to better engage staff. As an additional benefit, the site is improving internal communication by streamlining the production of content and targeting news to particular users.

From this presentation, delegates can expect to learn:

• How CSIRO went from 28 to one intranet that personalises content to individual staff members
• The importance of requirements gathering and a thorough CMS selection process
• The improvement to internal communication through targeted content
• How CSIRO developed a multi-layered personalisation system for their intranet
• How the intranet has become the news and events hub for the organisation

Institute of Chartered Accountants uses Sitecore to put members at the heart of the online experience: A Case Study

By Tim Nicholas, Manager Marketing Services, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and Scott Porter, CEO, BlueArc

As the professional body representing chartered accountants and the nation’s best accounting graduates, the Institute of Chartered Accountants set out to change the way they communicated with their audience online. In keeping with the Institute’s mission to bring greater value to its members and the profession at large, a new website was required to:

• Better meet the information needs of members, candidates, students and the business community
• Provide more efficient access to the broad range of services and resources offered by the Institute.

Based on the Sitecore technology platform, BlueArc and the Institute embarked on the creation of a world-class website that would set the benchmark for the accounting profession in Australia.

The new website allows each site visitor to personalise their browsing experience according to their interests. Using the Sitecore Online Marketing Suite (OMS), the site intuitively tailors new and existing customer journeys to the wealth of content contained on the Institute’s website, including technical resources, training products and services.

During this presentation you will discover how the Institute:

• Increased the speed to market of marketing communications programs
• Simplified website content management
• Forged stronger relationships with their target audience
• Provided better visibility of their products and service offering

This session will provide insight into the challenges, lessons learnt and benefits involved in delivering a robust digital platform that is “fit for the future”.
