Australian partner WDG is involved in an exciting project, implementing Sitecore based web-solutions to deliver a Veterinary Database Website for the Australian Wildlife Centre at Zoos Victoria.
Following is an interview performed by eNEWS with Stephen Lord from WDG:
Today eNEWS talks to Stephen Lord, Account Director at WDG about his work on the Australian Wildlife Centre website for Zoos Victoria Stephen Lord, Account Manager.
What are you working on right now?
I'm involved in a project for Zoos Victoria where WDG is building a Veterinary Database Website for the Australian Wildlife Centre at Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria Australia.
What is the Australian Wildlife Centre?
The Australian Wildlife Centre (AWC) project is a major initiative that will provide the Zoological Parks and Gardens Board with a world-class animal welfare facility. The AWC wanted to utilise IT to deliver a powerful visitor experience and to communicate with people across all age groups. Healsville Sanctuary is one of three world-leading centres for wildlife conservation, education and research run by Zoos Victoria. The Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo, are also a part of Zoos Victoria.
What were the objectives of the AWC?
The governing objective for this project is to provide exemplary learning opportunities that connect people with nature.
AWC's database website will play a key role in helping the AWC build enduring relationships between people and wildlife via an online journey of discovery.
What solution is WDG proposing?
WDG will be developing an all-encompassing system that allows information and data to be shared between the three main components of the solution. These being:
- A sophisticated animal welfare database system
- Onsite touch screen 'Info Pods'
- AWC website.
The website and info pods will be attached to a Content Management System (CMS) that will enable access to data from the externally accessible Veterinary Database. Visitors to the website will be able to access this content and conduct sophisticated searches and build comprehensive reports.
