The National Gallery recently launched a new online image library, built on Sitecore and designed and implemented by Solution Partner Hugo & Cat. The site enables visitors to search almost 3,000 paintings from the collection, as well as to buy usage rights and download digital reproductions instantly via the shopping cart and e-commerce facility.
Paintings can be browsed by subject, theme, artist name, painting style or time period. When registered, visitors can create, share, email and print light boxes. The administration interface contains advanced tools for image conversion, promotions management and price list management.
The site has been a great success in its first few weeks of operations, and is an important step forward in delivering full online commerce for the National Gallery Company.
