In the spring of 2005 they decided to totally rebuild their web site. The reasons for doing this was an increasing demand for public relations. As a part of this they wanted a new profile, extended reporting possibilities, and the possibility to keep their website updated and dynamic.
The Ship Registers chose BOOS IT Consultants to develop their new web solution using Sitecore CMS.
The Norwegian Ship Registers main objective is to achieve a correct and updated Norwegian Ship Register (NOR) and Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS). The policy instrument is an efficient and suitable administration and a consecutive quality assurance of the registers content.
The Ship Registers primary responsibility is to serve as a part of the public control of registration of ships and their ownership and to exercise the function as legal protection registry for registration of rights in Norwegian ships.
Sitecore enabled The Ship Registers in Norway to rebuild its website and smoothly integrate content management with The Ship Registers’ own systems.
Sitecore offers a development platform that has enabled The Ship Registers to offer online search for Vessel information. The new pages have been designed with special attention on user friendliness and extended search options.
It was clear that Sitecore could provide the following:
-
A proven CMS offering all the core features. Sitecore's solid track record in Europe and its list of reference sites made it clear that Sitecore delivered the fundamental CMS features.
-
A mature, robust technical infrastructure built on .NET.
-
Total control over site design and presentation.
-
The possibility for several authors to keep the information up to date
Report facilities for users are divided into two levels of access. Some reports are for public use and some for defined users. Data from the register is exported and made accessible for reporting and for communicating with other authorities in Norway through WEB services.
The languages are English and Norwegian. All necessary forms used to register, relevant laws and regulations are available.
