Sitecore’s Foundry Solution Expands Customization Capabilities for Multi-Website Management and Distribution

Foundry 2.0 offers more personalization for individual site level users and advanced tools for increased ease of centralized management

San Francisco, September 16, 2008 - Sitecore, the leading provider of .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) and portal software, today announced Foundry version 2.0 with new functionalities allowing for advanced customization. The latest edition of Foundry, a centrally managed, multi-site solution for creation of individual affiliate websites, adds new personalization settings for individual site users and Foundry Control Center (FCC) tools for greater ease of management at the global administrative level.

The Sitecore Foundry solution balances the need for international companies to maintain a global brand and the desire of the company’s regional affiliates to localize their websites to suit their particular audience. With the new features, organizations can take customization of multi-site management to the next level. From individual site users up to the global administrators, each is given more control and management in their respective roles.

Foundry enables businesses to easily maintain universal messaging while giving local affiliates the means to tailor the look and feel of their websites to their customers. With the new personalization settings, local site users have the ability to establish and manage their own personal user settings and content, such as local services, schedules, regional events and news items, all within a simple but structured framework.

The advanced Foundry Control Center now offers a wizard driven site creation tool. Global administrators can use this guided tool to provision new Foundry sites while controlling an array of site options such as establishing the default content language. Additionally, Foundry 2.0 enables the administrators to track and view systems status of all their affiliated sites, adjust site settings and perform global system functions centrally.

Foundry further balances global brand image with localization through the addition of new site layout options and adjustable site “skin packages.” Each site owner can easily and quickly change page layout for customization at the individual page level from a set of choices pre-determined by administrators. The skin packages are also pre-configured while still allowing for personalization by each local affiliate.

“We’ve recently seen a groundswell of activity with large affiliate oriented organizations wanting to implement Foundry,” stated Paul Markun, VP of Marketing at Sitecore. “One such recent client is a large national insurance company, with over 5000 sales affiliates needing their own local website presence. Their headquarter maintains the centralized branding and integrated functionality, while the local sales affiliates get an intuitive and non-technical 3 click editing interface to easily speak to their local market on their websites.”
