Marketers and business users can easily orchestrate aesthetics and state of the art functionality that engages and compels website visitors
San Francisco, May 28, 2008 - Sitecore, the leading provider of .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) and portal software, today announced the unveiling of its Web CMS 6.0, which completely redefines web content management usability and control. Sitecore’s new software is being heralded as having a gorgeous look and feel with an intuition that has no parallel in the industry.
The aesthetic highlight is the inline editing and page management features, which make it easy to alter website content and layout, literally orchestrating the flow and structure of a website’s functionality and content. Marketers and business users can move and present features such as “Polls”, “Tag Clouds”, and “Personalization Offers” without the need to wait and rely upon a specialized design team. Now, the time, manpower and resources for deployment of updates is significantly reduced from weeks and days to hours and minutes.
The early release version of the software is currently being tested by 75 organizations. Initial comments from these testers regarding the visual experience include “beautiful interface,” “dazzling,” and “an enormous breakthrough.”
“After two years of development and testing, we have created the most powerful web CMS solution in the marketplace that also delights the non-technical user with next generation usability,” said Darren Guarnaccia, VP Product marketing at Sitecore. “A Fortune 500 CIO that previewed Web CMS 6.0 described it as ‘by far the most advanced CMS on the market now’.”
Sitecore Web CMS 6.0 also offers new enterprise features for increased scalability and security applications for multiple large inter-related websites. Architected to leverage the largest computing environments supported by Microsoft, including support of 64 bit processors, Sitecore runs at industry leading speeds. The security model has also been enhanced to fully leverage the benefits of Microsoft .NET 3.5 while also adding additional flexibility, providing organizations full compatibility assurance with competitive advantage benefits.
Another feature highlight is the patent-pending usability validation abilities addressing accessibility, content compliance and quality enforcement concerns. These built-in capabilities meet many mandated goals and standards, such as ADA 508 and WCAG, which provide guidelines for the creation of websites that are accessible to people with disabilities. They also enable brand and content consistency enforcement for organizations that have large numbers of website contributors.
The early testers also have reported the new release is robust, powerful and significantly faster than prior releases. These testers will be publishing their experiences and findings starting in early June. Customer shipments will begin June 30, 2008 and users under maintenance contracts will receive this upgrade at no additional charge.
