Bair Pectora

Automated publishing is a well established concept. Dutch situated company, Bair, has taken this concept to what we believe is a new level. Starting off in the mid 90’ies, with in-house production of technical manuals using Adobe FrameMaker, Bair has gradually followed the trends of exploiting XML and implementing it into an automated publishing cycle. The product that has been used – initially in-house, now worldwide – is called Pectora.

It soon became clear that the optimal workflow from any kind of datasource to a given, and selective choice of output engine, could be done with Pectora. With a few tweaks. These ‘tweaks’ now mean that Pectora combines with any known datasource, extracts data and output with XML as a carrier format into high profile products like Adobe InDesign or AdobeFramker. All depending on the customers choice and publishing requirements. By joining up with Sitecore as a technology partner, any Sitecore solution can now implement and add value to the entire system. The final touch. The publication that everybody envies.

With XML, Bair and Pectora, has also moved to the Internet for automated publishing. The bottomline of this is, that any publication can be automated, created and published – with a few clicks. Whereever you are in the world. We call this: “Publishing Made Easy.”

Bair staff have a long history in and knowlegde of programming at all levels. Add to this a high degree of graphical and design knowledge, and you get the perfect match in publishing workflow. In Bair we believe that XML is a key datasource of the future. On many levels. Pectora uses this standard format in any conceivable way, with XSLT, XSL-FO transformations, with XPath, XQuery in combination with ordinary SQL. And more to ....

Bair works, with Pectora, through a partner setup. Each geographical region has a few but highly specialised partners who have knowledge in all levels and steps of any automated publishing cycle.

Clients are: TUI, Club 8, Neopost, Kennys, Vestas, Man B&W, Digital XPress, Silkeborg Bogtryk, Jelling Bogtryk and more.
