Sitecore 6.0 website HTML Developer (SHD)
Prerequisites
Students must have strong HTML and CSS programming skills. Students should understand the concept of pre-processing scripting languages, which combine HTML and embedded scripting tags to generate content in the displayed Web page.
The course introduces the XSLT language; an industry standard XML based language used to transform XML content to a markup language, such as HTML. We strongly recommend that students unfamiliar with XSLT study the language before attending the course.
At the end of the training, the instructor will administer a certification exam that tests whether the student understands the main concepts required to be an effective Sitecore developer.
Students who do not have strong HTML and CSS programming skills will most likely not pass this exam, but may still benefit from attending the training.
Target Audience
This course introduces the concepts and techniques required to modify and extend existing Sitecore V 6 websites.
This course is intended for developers who do not have .NET programming skills, but whose job function requires them to extend the information architecture and develop presentation components associated with an existing Sitecore website or as part of the team developing a new Sitecore website.
Goals
Students who attend this course will learn how to:
• use Sitecore’s browser-based content management applications.
• extend existing content types to add new fields and create entirely new content types.
• dissect a page to discover the controls used to create it.
• extend and create presentation controls that display content on the Web site.
• configure the Sitecore applications so that business users can make approved design changes without the help of a developer.
In general, after attending this course, students will know how to create new areas of a website, including both the information architecture and presentation components required.
