Course Abstract

This one day course introduces business users to the main concepts and practical tasks required to manage users and provide access to content and functionality in Sitecore CMS 6.

Prerequisites

Students should understand the basic concepts of security administration and be familiar with Sitecore and how it manages content. We recommend that students who are unfamiliar with Sitecore attend Sitecore User training before attending this course.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Web site administrators with very little experience of Sitecore. Attendees are not assumed to have any programming experience, nor will the training contain any programming related tasks.

Goals

After successfully completing this course, students will be able to use the Sitecore 6 security tools to administer security in Sitecore. They will also be able to instruct ordinary users in all of the security related tasks that they can perform.

Students will be able to:

  • Use all the Sitecore security tools (Access Viewer, User Manager, Role Manager, Domain Manager, and Security Editor).
  • Create and manage users.
  • Create and manage roles.
  • Assign access rights to users and roles.
  • Use inheritance to control the access that users and roles have to items in the Web site.
  • Manage security accounts and passwords.
