The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is one of the world's largest and finest art museums. Founded in 1870, its collection includes artworks spanning more than five thousand years of world culture, from prehistory to the present and from every part of the globe.. The work of the Met reflects the global scope of its collection and extends across the world through a variety of initiatives and programs. By collecting, preserving, studying, and exhibiting, this Museum of Art stimulates appreciation for the broadest spectrum of human achievement via the Met’s collection. The Museum also offers hundreds of events and programs each month, including lectures, films, tours, and family activities.
In 2009 the Museum partnered with Cogapp to redevelop the Museum’s website. As part of this redevelopment, which included a complete overhaul of the information architecture and graphic design of the site, Cogapp completed a review of possible content management systems. After a comprehensive research process Cogapp recommended Sitecore because of its ability to separate content from presentation, thus providing support for multiple platforms, such as web and mobile, easy-to-use editor tools, such as workflow management, previewing and inline editing, and developer features such as APIs. Sitecore’s functionality has enabled customization and integration with external systems, which was vital for this project. For example, Cogapp and the Met have extended Sitecore’s search system with the Apache Solr search application, providing users with multiple, user-friendly ways to explore the Museum’s vast online collection. They also added a scheduled import from an external event and ticketing system, integrating it with the custom events calendar implemented in Sitecore.
Over the last 2 years the user experience team at Cogapp has carried out hundreds of individual user testing sessions to gain insight into how to engage and build an ongoing long-term relationship with the Museum’s diverse online audience. Following the relaunch, the Metropolitan Museum website has received favorable reviews in the New York Times, BBC World Service radio and NY1 television channel, as well as on blogs and on Twitter, with the New York Times describing it as one of the best museum websites.

Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar(R) is a DineEquity, Inc. brand and is franchised and operated by Applebee's Services, Inc. and its affiliates.
MRM, a Sitecore certified partner, launched the new Applebees.com in September, 2011 after extensive redesign and development.
The design adheres to the goal of providing the end user with a simpler and direct site experience by bringing the most heavily engaged features to the forefront of the site. Understanding that Applebees.com provides an experience that is location-based, the site is intended to help users find items of interest and locate the closest Applebee’s restaurant to enjoy them.
An important user experience feature on the site is the dynamic menu that gives site visitors instant access to the broad range of menu choices available at their Applebee’s location. This menu is customized by location and the data is drawn directly from Sitecore’s content cache. Equally important are considerations that were taken around how a user’s interaction with the online menu is different than with the physical in-restaurant menu. Site visitors are able to interact with the menu in a meaningful way. They may then find and share menu items that interest them.
From a development perspective, the solution utilizes best-in-class HTML/CSS coding practices, ensuring a consistent experience across a variety of browsers and devices. Being able to customize the final HTML/CSS code through Sitecore allowed the Applebee’s site to use advanced JQuery-based menus for the most optimal user experience.
The Web site now lives on a platform that is scalable and will provide growing return against business objectives as future phases and iterations are launched in 2012.
