This week I will be heading to eTail Canada 2012, the annual eCommerce Development Conference being held in Toronto starting Monday, May 14th. eTAil Canada 2012 will focus on providing Canadian retailers with information to optimize eCommerce, enhance the customer eCommerce experience, use social media and mobile to drive customer engagement and transactions. All in all, the conference will heavily focus on getting the “right” message to the “right” audience.

I’m really excited about the Internet Show in Singapore next week. Sitecore will be exhibiting on the show floor from April 25th – 27th. It’s great to see that social and video are important parts of Content Management World this year. Certainly a sign of the times! Content management is moving forward into managing the engagement process with the customer.
This year we are sponsoring the Customer Engagement session at Content Management world. It is sure to be really interesting. There are some great speakers lined up, including Olivier LeGrand from the Wall St Journal, and Lalit Bhagia from Star TV. I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with them!
Recently Sitecore Partners in North America were invited to participate in a specialization certification in CEP, CRM, ECM and e-commerce. Sitecore Partners that achieved specialization were required to demonstrate achievement in providing advanced Sitecore solutions.
Yesterday the latest round of Sitecore MVPs were announced and there’s been quite a lot of buzz congratulating them on Twitter. My favorite tweet so far was someone announcing that they ‘sit beside a Sitecore MVP’. The Sitecore MVP is a strong community and its always inspiring to see their innovations, see them speaking at events and presenting at Sitecore User Groups. It’s a great privilege to be part of such a vibrant community.
Brian Solis recently wrote a report on Digital Influence for the Altimeter Group discussing the changing landscape of interactions online. Brian Solis notes that Social Media is largely driven by authenticity, “…social media influences other people with more authenticity than traditional marketing…what people say in social networks can reach far beyond the extend of traditional marketing. Depending on the number and caliber of an individual’s social networks, their reputation, and what’s shared, what they say about a company can go viral.” (If you want to learn more about the impact of authenticity in Social Media, check out Trust Agents by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith.)
Yesterday @SitecoreUK hosted Digital TrendSpot 2012 themed "Adaptive Web Experiences" with partners and customers coming from across the United Kingdom. Throughout the day there were more presentations from Dyson, Miller Group, cScape, THT, Aqueduct, Virgin Active and easyJet. In fact this morning New Media Age magazine has published an interview with Richard Levin at Digital TrendSpot, 'EasyJet sees 20% uplift in conversions since delivering targeted content on home page'.
On Tuesday Sitecore’s CEO, Michael Seifert, won the inaugural ‘INSEAD New Business Award’, sponsored by Berlingske Business, a Danish Daily which noted that Sitecore’s development history symbolizes “the power of innovation and entrepreneurship”. On Wednesday evening a group of colleagues from Sitecore came together from different regions to celebrate Sitecore in France with French customers and partners. Sitecore has done business in France for awhile, but with Laurent Bouteiller at the helm is a testament to the opportunities in this innovative market where Laurent reminds us, “As we say in France, we don’t have petroleum but we do have great ideas.”

I’ve been reading a lot recently about all the various marketing channels, and which ones are the most important. Recently in the UK’s B2B Marketing magazine, Alex Blyth noted that, “Many B2B marketers are now waking up to the fact that a mobile website might be one of the most effective weapons in their arsenal. Buyers spend much of their time in planes, trains and automobiles, and so they research and make buying decisions while on the go.”
